West King Home
Overview
The West King Street project was a home purchased from the owner to rehabilitate. This home sat empty for more than 10 years, had been used by squatters and was a general nuisance in the community. We used Stout Renovations to completely gut the home, redo the floor plan to make it more efficient and place it on the market for resale. Project details included:
- Added a bathroom downstairs.
- Installed a new kitchen.
- Built all new walls and flooring.
- Upgraded heating and cooling.
- Repaired the front porch.
- Added front and back landscaping of both the front and back.
A couple purchased the home and has moved in.

When I moved into the neighborhood, I was taking a real chance, but I could see all the potential. I am thrilled others see it too and have made the investments to revitalize our neighborhood. The homes on Kentucky and Hurricane are superb examples that make a real difference for me and my neighbors. Let's keep it going!
We have been part of the Franklin community since 2006. One of the things we immediately loved about Franklin were the many historic homes, both humble and grand. We have cherished the original character in several homes renovated along West King Street. It was huge encouragement to see the FDC banner and watch it be restored.We know first hand how one property can inspire neighbors to invest in their homes and properties and the whole community benefits.
We are so encouraged to see the progress that has been made in our neighborhood over the past five years! Our personal investment in our own little "fixer upper" has played a big part in transforming our community. Recently, one of the worst homes on the street was tom down in efforts to save the neighborhood. We hope that this effort continues, and it inspires our community and neighbors to continue to invest in their homes and the neighborhood to make it a better place to live.
